Remember the movie “Ghost” with Sam (Patrick Swayze) and Molly (Demi Moore)? Even though it has been 20 years since the movie came out, one of the favorite scenes that everyone remembers is Molly making pottery on the potter’s wheel - then, of course, Sam giving her a hand with the clay.

How would you like to try your hand throwing clay on the wheel? You can do that at Mud Slingers Pottery. We have classes scheduled three times a week. There are five wheels so the classes are small – personal attention is given to each student.

This class covers the fundamental ceramic techniques of wedging, centering, making a cylinder and trimming the pottery. Use of tools and glazing techniques are covered. Texturing and glazing are demonstrated and utilized during the class. Students create bowls, mugs with handles and other artistic projects.

The wheel class is eight weeks --- meeting one time a week for three hours each session. Clay, glaze and firings are included in the price of $200.00. Students are encouraged to come to the studio during open hours to practice throwing on the wheel two hours each week -- or a total of 16 hours for the eight-week class.
